Nando's confirms plan to serve up restaurant in mall
PORTUGUESEinspired chicken restaurant chain Nando’s is to open its first Lothians branch.
The chain, which has 175 branches across the UK, has taken a 5500sq ft space at The Elements, the new extension to the Almondvale Shopping Centre in Livingston, which is due to open in October.
The Evening News revealed that the company was being lined up for the site in October.
David Smith, leasing director at centre owner Land Securities, said: "Nando’s new Livingston restaurant will be one of just four in Scotland and I have no doubt that it will be a big hit."
Marks & Spencer and Debenhams have already signed up as the main stores at the £130 million development.
The centre will feature a series of "streets" intended to have the character of a city centre.
Among other restaurant chains believed to be interested in the site are Tony Roma’s and Ask Restaurants, which owns Ask and Zizzi.
Nando’s rent will be £100,000 a year.
