Connaught wins £50m contracts
CONNAUGHT, the UK refurbishment and maintenance specialist, has secured two new contracts with Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership worth a total of £50 million.
The firm, whose Scottish division is based in Glasgow, said the deals covered the maintenance of more than 10,500 homes over the next five years and the installation of 6,000 bathrooms and 1,200 kitchens in properties across the region.
Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership is the second largest registered social landlord in Scotland.
Connaught area director, Martin Morrison, said the double contract win was a "significant milestone" for the company north of the Border.
"This is a fantastic achievement for Connaught and reflects our growing strength in the Scottish market place," he said.
"Both contract awards allow us to work closely with the community and will safeguard 100 local jobs.
"We would like to welcome the employees who will transfer across to Connaught from the council."
Housing partnership chairman George Murray added: "We will be working with Connaught to provide a much more responsive repairs service which has been tailored to the needs of our tenants."
Connaught, whose head office is in Exeter, said the maintenance contract was worth £27m over the fiveyear period. The firm will deal with everything from electrical faults to plumbing issues. The contract for the replacement of kitchens and bathrooms has been valued at £23m.
