Chemist chain sells for £20m
THE biggest independent retail pharmacy chain in Scotland has been sold in a deal that will net its owners an estimated £20 millionplus.
Family firm Donald Munro is now under the control of German firm Lloyds Pharmacy. It is expected that Munro’s wholesale operation will also now be sold.
The group’s owner, Donald Munro, 71, has been at the head of the firm for 48 years. It has more than 25 outlets, including one in Currie.
Latest accounts show the firm made gross profits of £5.1m in the year to the end of September 2006.
