Arnold Clark revs up turnover
CAR dealer Arnold Clark has recorded doubledigit turnover growth despite suffering a dip in profits.
The Scottish firm said turnover increased by 11.2 per cent in 2007 to £2.1 billion. Pretax profits dipped by 8.2 per cent to £70.1m, although the firm said the comparative 2006 year had been boosted by an exceptional valueadded tax payout of £12.4m.
New car sales increased by 10.3 per cent to 73,877, while used car sales were also up 7.4 per cent.
But Sir Arnold Clark, the firm’s chairman and chief executive, warned that difficult trading conditions lie ahead in the rest of this year. He said: "There is no doubt that 2008 will be a challenging year. By continuing to offer exceptional value for money on motor vehicles and ancillary products, I am confident that the group will continue to prosper."
