Scotch lamb sales rise during marketing push
Sales of Scotch lamb rose by 19% during the first three months of a marketing campaign by Quality Meat Scotland (QMS), the Scottish red meat industry’s promotional and development body.
QMS increased its annual investment on Scotch lamb marketing to £500,000 for the 2007/8 campaign. Results from market researcher TNS show sales of lamb in Scotland during the 12 weeks to November 4, 2007, increased by 19% from 757 tonnes to 903 tonnes.
The value sales of lamb in Scotland increased by 12% from £5.495m to £6.153m, with the number of households purchasing lamb through the year increasing from 46.9% to 50.4%.
