Major upgrade for aluminium plant
An aluminium smelter in the Highlands is to be modernised thanks to £45mworth of investment by its owner.
Rio Tinto Alcan said new hydro electric turbogenerators will be installed to power the plant which is based at Fort William.
The project is set to begin in 2009 and should be completed by 2012, the company said.
The existing hydro generators at the plant have been in use since their installation in 1929.
