Some 65,000 new jobs have been generated by Scotland’s business and financial services sector over the last five years.

Representing the fastest employment growth in Scotland over the past five years, the business and financial sector is though to have helped drive economic growth by 2.6 per cent last year, above the longterm average growth of 1.9 per cent.
Total employment growth over the past five years was at 4.4 per cent in Scotland, compared with four per cent in the UK, with the public sector north of the border employing 30.5 per cent of the country’s workforce.
Bank of Scotland group economist Tim Crawford said: "Scotland’s economic performance has improved in the last five years and this had led to stronger employment and wages growth in Scotland than the UK average."
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland was the world’s first professional body of accountants and received its Royal Charter in 1854.
